Happy Thanksgiving From SERV International
November 26th, 2015 by Steph Whitacre
At SERV International, there is a myriad of things we count on our list of things for which we are thankful. Some of these items are tangible like a roof over our heads, nutrient-rich food, and access to clean, safe water. Many more are intangible like the smiles on the faces of our kids at House of Hope, a warm welcome from friends returning from a journey, and the joy of sharing Christ with our friends in the Dominican Republic and Kenya. Today we want to share a video with you that is a snapshot of SERV’s ministries in the areas of Food, Water, Shelter, and Life. We hope you watch it with your family and friends, and it prompts some thoughts for you of what the tangible and intangible things are that stir gratitude in your heart each day.
This week, our office staff took some time to focus on things we are extra-thankful for this year, especially in regard to our roles here at SERV. Read below for each of our reflections:
Shelby is thankful for her ability to share Christ with others every day through her work. SERV is committed to using initiatives like food and water projects, our House of Hope orphanage, and more as outlets to tell others that there is a God who loves every individual and desires each of us to have a relationship with Him.
Cathi is thankful that through SERV, God is using her to make a difference in other people’s lives. Cathi has the joy of heading up projects like clothing drives, community impact, and special events. There is no doubt that God is using Cathi to mobilize others in serving Jesus by serving their local and global neighbors.
Jim is thankful for an AWESOME global SERV team. From our partners in Kenya to teams in the Dominican Republic and the United States, SERV has the privilege of working with a wide variety of volunteers, staff, donors, and child sponsors, from all walks of life. SERVing others is a big deal and involves a big family of supporters. Thank you for being a part giving people the opportunity to make a difference.
Robbin just can’t decide one thing she is grateful for so she picked a whole bunch! We love Robbin’s heart for helping others and how she keeps us moving in the midst of so many projects and ministries.
Steve is thankful to be surrounded by family, friends, and loved ones who walk alongside him and SERV through the joys and challenges of ministering to those in remote parts of the world. Thank you to those of you who are a part of this support team, who pray for and invest in the mission of SERV International, not just during the holidays but all year long.
